Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the shortest of them, corresponding to metastin residues 45–54, with the sequence Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2 (YNWNSFGLRF-NH2). All of these forms share this amidated C-terminal decapeptide, which is the region that binds and activates the kisspeptin receptor, KISS1R (formerly called GPR54). In laboratory research, kisspeptin-10 is studied as a KISS1R agonist to investigate how kisspeptin signaling regulates gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.
