What is TB-500?
TB-500 is the research name for a synthetic peptide based on thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid protein of the beta-thymosin family. TB-500 is often described in connection with the central actin-binding region of Tβ4, the LKKTETQ motif (residues 17–23), the part of the protein that binds monomeric actin.
In laboratory research, thymosin beta-4 and its fragments are investigated as G-actin–sequestering peptides: they are studied for how they regulate actin polymerization, cytoskeletal organization and cell migration in cell culture and other preclinical research models.
